The River's Voice

Strikingly exceptional songwriters, musicians and leaders in their own right, Trish and Richard Bruxvoort Colligan join hands as The River's Voice. Their unique fusion in music, life, and love brings to the world a never-ending flow of inspired gifts. Known for their depth of wisdom, playful spirits, and fully engaged presence, you might say they are quite the pair.

The couple tours as professional musicians, songwriters and retreat leaders, bringing with them their passion for the human journey and the mystery of the spiritual life. Together with their son Sam, they live in an 1880s era house in the hills of Strawberry Point, Iowa with each other, three crazy cats, and a sweet, grandmotherly dog.

Musically, Trish's piano and Richard's acoustic guitar lend a folk-influenced backdrop to their smooth vocal harmonies. Think James Taylor, Sarah McLachlan, or The Swell Season and you're close.

The duo has published over a dozen CDs between them over the past ten years.

Linda Chatterton, Flute and Harp

Flutist Linda Chatterton "ushers the listener into a dreamy world buoyedby smooth melody line and radiant timbre," according to the Minneapolis"Star Tribune." Her Christmas CD for flute and harp, "Gabriel's Message,"has been delighting audiences throughout the U.S. and has been heard many times on Minnesota and National Public Radio stations.

Paul Imholte, Stringman

Like a harvester gathering vintage grapes, Paul Imholte collects the wonder of acoustical string music and shares that beauty with audiences. Known as the "musical stringman," he sings and plays nearly a dozen traditional instruments. Paul performs at festivals, schools and concerts across the United States. For the last ten years, Paul has been composing and recording instrumental music for the hammered dulcimer and songs about life in the Midwest.

Paul started his musical career playing on his grandfather's fiddle. In high school, he and his older brother, Frank, formed a dance band that played most weekends throughout Minnesota. From those early days of playing, Paul learned that music is a courting and dancing charmer, whose welcome seldom wears thin.

Paul's featured instruments is the hammered dulcimer. The hammered dulcimer is an ancient string instrument from the Middle East. It is played with light mallets or hammers. Along with the hammered dulcimer and fiddle, Paul plays the guitar, banjo, mandolin, viola, harmonica, jaw harp and spoons.

Paul is part of the Celtic music ensemble, "Ring of Kerry." This five member band plays a rollicking and robust blend of jigs, reels, hornpipes and sing fun-loving songs of sailing and traveling the wide world.

The WolfGang

Our History

The WolfGang was formed in 1996 as a collaboration to perform music from the Classical Era on classical instruments. Oboist Stanley King, then Artist-in-Residence at the Schubert Club, invited Mary Sorlie (violin), Laura Handler (cello), Gail Olszewski (fortepiano), and Paul Jacobson (flute) to join him in a performance of a quintet by Johann Christian Bach at a Courtroom Concert in St. Paul. These musicians had played together many times in various combinations and ensembles. The performance on February 1, 1996 at the Landmark Center was a great success. The audience loved hearing this delightful piece so well-played on period instruments. The entire experience was so satisfying that they decided to form an ensemble to explore the early classical repertoire for this instrumentation. Shortly thereafter, they invited violist Steve Staruch to join them ... the WolfGang was born.

The WolfGang was featured at the 2002 Minnesota Music Teacher's Association convention. In 2006 they collaborated with Minnesota Public Radio and Barnes & Noble to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Mozart's birth.

The WolfGang has performed in many venues in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area including: St. Paul Early Music Series, Northwestern College Faculty Artists Series and at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, Inc. The WolfGang has also been on the music series for St. Paul churches: Hamline United Methodist, Central Baptist, and Guardian Angels; in addition to Minneapolis churches: Plymouth Congregational, Bethlehem Lutheran, St. Luke's Episcopal, and Mount Olive; as well as Bethel Lutheran in Northfield MN.
